CSM(R) John Arthur Gory attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was assigned to HHC 3RD Battalion 325TH Airborne Infantry Regiment at Fort Bragg, NC; Vicenza, Italy as part of the Southern Europe Task Force (SETAF)as a Senior Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic.
He was then assigned to the 27th Engineer Combat Support Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC, as a Shop Foreman. He deployed twice with the 27TH Engineer Battalion to Honduras and Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. While in Honduras I received the Honduran Parachutist Badge. He attended the Basic Noncommissioned Officer’s Course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. After graduation from BNCOC, He attended the Jumpmaster School and was awarded both Senior Parachutist Badge and Master Parachutist Badge.
He was assigned to the 149TH Maintenance Company in Hanau, Germany, as a Maintenance Support Team Chief (MST). He was inducted into the prestigious Sergeant Morales Club April 1994 as part of V Corps. He later assigned to HHC 1ST Battalion 63RD Armor serving as the Battalion Motor Sergeant (BMS) in Vilseck, Germany where he deployed to Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian II, and deployed the unit to Czechoslovakia. He was later inducted into the prestigious Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe.
His next assignment he served as First Sergeant for Bravo Company 325TH Forward Support Battalion, 25TH Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq in support Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom supporting the Global War on Terrorism. His other assignments includes 426th Brigade Support Battalion (BSB), Fort Campbell, KY and Fort Richardson, Alaska, where he served as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major of the 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB). He is a graduate of Class 57 of the United States Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA) Fort Bliss, TX. He deployed both units to Iraq and Afghanistan (OIF-IV, OEF-V).

He is married to Michele Gory, two sons, John and Daniel.
