Major Peter G. DeMoss is a native of Williamsburg, VA. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Political Science and commissioned as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in May of 2007.
His first duty assignment was in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Irwin, CA from May 2008 until December 2010. He served as a Stinger Platoon Leader in India Troop, 1st Squadron, 11th ACR; Regimental Planner and S3, Air in RHHT, 11th ACR; and as Executive Officer of HHT, 1st Squadron, 11th ACR. In January of 2011, Major DeMoss was assigned to the 82d Airborne Division at Fort Bragg and completed a Branch Transfer to Armor Branch. He served as Division CUOPS Assistant Operations Officer in A Company (Operations), 82d HHBN until August, 2012. During this time he was deployed to RC(S) Headquarters on Kandahar Airfield, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Following his deployment, he attended the Maneuver Captains Career Course (MCCC) in October 2012. Following MCCC, Major DeMoss served as CUOPS/FUOPS Planner for 4th Squadron, 10th US Cavalry from August 2013 until January 2014 before taking command of B Troop, 4-10 CAV. Major DeMoss relinquished command of B Troop in March, 2015 and separated from Active Duty. Upon transition to the US Army Reserve, Major DeMoss served as a Field Support Detachment Team Leader in 1st Information Operations Command (LAND). Upon selection for promotion to Major, he transferred to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, where he serve as the Korean Peninsula Regional Contingency Team Operations Officer.
In his civilian career, Major DeMoss is employed by Deloitte Services, LLP as a Senior Consultant to the Federal Government, advising DoD and National Security clients in business process optimization. He is currently a Master of Business Administration Candidate at the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler School of Business.
MAJ DeMoss married his wife, Kathleen, in July 2016, and they have a son, George, born in January 2018.
His military awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
His military education includes the Basic Officer Leadership Course II, Air Defense Basic Officer Leadership Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Airborne School, Pathfinder School, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Ranger School, Information Operations Capability and Planning Course, Military Information Support Integration Course, Military Deception Planner Course, and Army Cyber Operations Planner Course. He is currently enrolled in the Intermediate-Level Education course.
