Mr. Meissner is an Army National Guard officer and is the commander of 1226th Engineer Detachment, a utilities detachment stationed in Batesburg, SC. He is a native of Minnesota and holds degrees in Political Science (BA) from University of South Carolina Upstate University (’11) and a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Converse College (’14).

He and his family currently reside in Spartanburg County, SC where he serves as a business owner. CPT Meissner has served in various leadership, staff, and instructor positions in both the active component and South Carolina National Guard. He has been deployed four times; Jordan, 2003, Kyrgyzstan 2004, Iraq 2008 and Afghanistan, 2013. CPT Meissner is an active member of multiple professional and charitable organizations, including American Legion, the National Guard Associations of the United States and South Carolina, and South Carolina Municipal Association.

CPT Meissner’s previous troop assignments include platoon leader 125th Multirole Bridge Company, from 2011-2012; Executive Officer 122nd Engineer Battalion HHC from 2012-2014; S4, 122th Engineer Battalion from 2014-2017.

CPT Meissner’s awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal (5), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/ Combat Distinguishing Device with “V”, Armed Force Reserve Medal with M device, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Proficiency Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO ISAF Medal, Gold German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.

Mr.. Meissner is married Brittany Buchanan Meissner of Jasper, GA. They are blessed with one daughter, Viola (1) and another baby due Feb. 2019.
